Religious Education (RE) at Our School
At Kings Rise Academy, Religious Education (RE) plays an important role in supporting children’s spiritual, moral, social and cultural development. Our RE curriculum helps pupils to develop respect for others, to understand the diverse world in which we live, and to reflect on their own beliefs and values.
We follow the locally agreed syllabus for Birmingham Local Authority, which ensures that pupils learn about a range of religions and worldviews in a balanced and age-appropriate way. Through engaging lessons, stories, discussions and creative activities, children are encouraged to:
Learn about key beliefs, teachings and practices from major world religions
Explore similarities and differences between faiths
Develop curiosity, empathy and critical thinking
Reflect on questions of meaning, purpose and identity
Understand and appreciate the importance of tolerance and mutual respect
RE is taught as a discrete subject and is also woven into wider aspects of school life, helping to promote our values and support a welcoming, inclusive school community for all.
Parents have the right to withdraw their child from all or part of RE. If you are considering this or would like to discuss our RE curriculum in more detail, please contact the school office to arrange a conversation with a member of the Senior Leadership Team.
